Frequently Asked Questions

Instrument Maintenance and Upgrades

As far as your request is concerned, generally speaking the entire range of CDR instruments are

supplied already calibrated, ready to use and they do not need periodical calibration.

Anyway, two options are available to verify the calibration and the general functionality of the

system:

1. Hardware photometric check.

This procedure allows to verify the status of the instrument: photometric calibration, correct

functionality of parameters and reading cells, by following the procedure here below.

- Connect the instrument with an external PC, by using the USB cable provided as instrument

accessory.

- Now the CDR Drive folder will be created on the PC.

- From main menu, select SETTINGS.

- Select EXPORT STATUS and find the diagnostic files created in the CDR Drive folder.

- Send all the files to CDR that will check the status of the instrument and will release the updated

Certificate of Calibration.

2. Analytical check.

  • This procedure allows to verify the whole system, composed of the instrument, the pipettes and the operator manual skill. CDR provides dedicated CONTROL SOLUTION KITS for each parameter (in some cases, for different ranges of the same parameter also).
  • CONTROL SOLUTION KIT is composed of a known-value solution and a kit of reagents - 10 determinations. The user reads the "solution" as a real sample, verifying that the results obtained are in the range indicated.

  • Connect the instrument with an external PC, by using the USB cable provided as instrument accessory.
  • Now the CDR Drive folder will be created on the PC.
  • From main menu, select SETTINGS.
  • Select EXPORT STATUS and find the diagnostic files created in the CDR Drive folder.
  • Send all the files to CDR that will check the status of the instrument and will release the updated Certificate of Calibration.

  • Connect the instrument to the PC, by using the the USB cable provided as accessory of the instrument.
  • Now the CDR Drive folder will be created on the PC.
  • From main menu, select SETTINGS.
  • Proceed to the second screen, select UPDATE.
  • Follow the instruction on the instrument display: instrument will ask to click on CONNECT in CDR DRIVE, and you will be redirect to https://resources.cdrfoodlab.com/.
  • From here it is possible to download the upgrading file, it has to be copied on CDR Drive folder, then the upgrading process will start.

Please write tosupport@cdrfoodlab.com, describing the problem in details, with the help of pictures and brief videos, if needed.

>The instrument periodically asks for a new upgrading, just to remember it to the user and avoid to let use older versions. It happens also, as in this case, the instrument is already upgraded to the latest software version.

This happens when the main switch is pressed for a longer time, and the instrument accesses to a service menu called DEVICE UPGRADE MODE.

Please switch off the instrument and repeat the procedure.

You have to press the main switch just for a while, one single touch, and the instrument will be switched on normally.

You can export results by following the procedure here below.

  • Connect the instrument to the PC, by using the white USB cable provided
  • the folder CDR Drive will be created
  • export the results, filtered on the basis of the required time inteval
  • the file RESULTS.XML will be created in the folder CDR Drive
  • open this file in Excel, choosing to open it as a XML table.

Moreover, you can download the software interface CDR Data Manager from the dashboard in this site https://resources.cdrfoodlab.com/, for a smarter way to manage your results.

From the instrument main menu, please select SETTINGS and then ANALYSIS METHODS.

The same instruction, including indication about sample treatment and sample dilution when required, can be consulted after the method has been selected,by selecting the HELP key on the screen.

Documentation and Certificates

Once selected the CDR instrument model on the home page, it is possible to submit the request Certificates of Analysis, and MSDS of CDR reagents.

Please check the code for which the request has been submitted.

CDR does not provide Certificates of Analysis/MSDSs for single components of a kit.
CDR provides Certificates of Analysis/MSDSs for complete kits only, please submit the request for 7 digits codes only.

  • Connect the instrument with an external PC, by using the USB cable provided as instrument accessory.
  • Now the CDR Drive folder will be created on the PC.
  • From main menu, select SETTINGS.
  • Select EXPORT STATUS and find the diagnostic files created in the CDR Drive folder
  • Send all the files to CDR that will check the status of the instrument and will release the updated Certificate of Calibration.

Reagent Kits

CDR declares that the products, for which a refrigerated storage is required, can be kept to superior temperature for some days in order to guarantee the transport procedures and delivery to the final customer.

We recommend the following indications:

-      Products, for which storage at -20°C (-4°F) is required

o    can be kept at temperatures from 2°C to 8°C (35.6°F – 46.4°F) for a maximum of 30 days

o    can be kept at temperatures from 8°C to 25°C (46.4°F – 77°F) for a maximum of 5 days.

o    can be kept for up to 10 days at temperatures not exceeding 25°C (77°F).

For longer time and temperature more than 25°C (77°F) it is not possible to guarantee the expiring date even if the product has been well stored after delivery.

Expired reagents cannot be used, CDR cannot guarantee the performance of reagents once they are expired.
